How Political Bias Detection Works

What We Analyze

Our system analyzes news articles from multiple sources to detect political bias patterns. We examine:

  • • Article content, headlines, and language framing
  • • Source credibility and historical bias patterns
  • • Cross-source coverage of the same topics
  • • Sentiment and tone in political reporting

Key Features Explained

Deep ML Classification: Uses a fine-tuned RoBERTa transformer model (91.9% accuracy) trained on 32,000+ articles to predict political bias across the spectrum.
Model Confidence: Shows how certain the model is about its classification (0-100%). Higher confidence indicates more definitive bias signals.
Bias Spectrum: Visualizes the distribution of articles across five categories: Left-Leaning, Center-Left, Centrist, Center-Right, and Right-Leaning.

How to use: Click "Fetch Latest News" to load articles, then use "Deep ML Classification" to apply bias detection. Use filters to focus on specific sources, bias categories, or time ranges.
